Hello and welcome to Three Birds Yarn Studio!  My name is Erin Gates and you may know me as the designer behind Lizzy Knits.  I am so excited to make my long-time dream of owning a yarn shop a reality and I cannot wait to share fun new products with you. My goal is to inspire every type of knitter and crocheter out there and offer a wide range of products.  Whether you are an experienced knitter or just starting out, I hope that you will find all the tools you need to create something wonderful and have fun in the process.  Happy knitting!

A little about me:
I live in the north suburbs of Chicago with my husband, Russ and our 3 children: Liam (8), Finley (7), and Owen (4).  They also happen to be the inspiration behind the shop name (my three little birds). 

I started knitting and crocheting in high school with very basic stitches and I fell in love with the entire process.  After college, I started to favor knitting more, but I do enjoy the occasional crochet project.  When I was pregnant with my oldest son, Liam, I really started to tackle more complex projects and I found a new love for cable knitting.  I went overboard with making him baby blanket and sweaters.  It was just so fun and I haven't really put the needles down since.  Not too long after Liam was born, I found out I was pregnant with my daughter.  I then transitioned into becoming a stay at home mom with the little guys. (I formerly worked in finance for a demolition company).  Being at home gave me the freedom to start designing my own patterns and I created 'Lizzy Knits.'  And, in case you were wondering why I didn't call it 'Erin Knits", my middle name is Elizabeth and I just went with that instead, haha.

So, like I said above, I am incredibly excited to start this new business and build the shop that I've always dreamed of.  Thank you so much for visiting and thank you to all of my friends and family who have supported Lizzy Knits over the past 8 years.  You guys are truly my inspiration and your kindness means the world to me.
